9A reassembled and bench mounted
I now have my lathe cleaned up and mounted on a new bench. Its a model A, plain bearing, imperial lead screw, with a 2 step motor pully.
The swarf tray came with the lath, it was showing some rust so I took it back to bare metal and repainted it.
The accessories included the 127/100 compound and the 28,32,36,40 & 44 tooth gears. The 56 is on the screw gear stud with the 48 as collar.
The 3 jaw has a Taylor makers plate and 3 sets of jaws. Also got a 6" 4 jaw, Fixed steady, live centre and a big tin of drills including several centre drills.
Apart from a clean all I have done (so far) is replace the way wiper felts.
I have a copy of the TOT downloaded off this site which provides a speed chart, but, which speeds are direct drive and which back geared ? Can anyone clarify ?
I'm enjoying the advice presented on this site.
Keep it coming.

The slower speeds would be back gear.
You would have 8 Fast speeds and 8 Slow speeds.
The different speeds for Back Gear are listed in the book.
