    Default turning forums off

Is there a way of filtering forums. Since the population explosion here it's impossible to keep up. I'd like to filter about 90% of the forums so they don't appear in the New Posts list. Is that possible.

No, it isn't possible. There are some patches to forum code around but they are unsupported and do not provide the full functionality needed.

BTW, I moved your post into this forum, where you will find another active thread on recent changes.

EDIT: this post seems a bit abrupt, sorry, didn't mean it that way. I was doing a dozen things at once.

No worries Groggy - definitely didn't find it abrupt. Written media can be a pain in the ???? sometimes can't it.

Purely speculation but, if you don't log out you might not get as many new posts when you come back to the forums as the cookies remember what you've done where you've been, etc.

Just a thought. Haven't tried it as never use new posts and very seldom log out.

Have you tried not using new posts and just going to the forums you have an interest in and then just viewing the new posts you want to see.
IE the ones in bold. I find that much easier, more targeted and quicker for me than using new posts.

But then again I'm mainly working in the back room and not doing the full moderation thing any more so I really don't need to use new posts option, probably would if I was still having to do the read/scan everything thing that and I did for the first few years.

    Cheers - Neil

I dont find it a problem with all the forums intact, I dont visit all of them regularly but if something catches my eye, even in one of the forums I dont visit often, I still have a look to see what its about.
I use ispy and new posts. keeps me aware of whats going on at that moment.

So Ive just checked "new posts". There were 21 posts and 5 of them were jokes. That's a quarter of the posts. Isn't there some way we can be a little selective about what we want to see and what we don't?

    Regards,

    Rob
