Default Pressed tin credenza - group effort

    Hi everyone

Firstly, thanks to Andy_Mac for sourcing the art deco pressed ceiling tin for us from Toowoomba. Secondly, thanks to E.maculata for telling us about the Lismore timber (tongue and groove flooring rejects). Thirdly, thanks to Tomartom for the recycled hardwood timber for the tapered legs. Fourthly, thanks to Rocker for giving us the plans to your morticising jig, makes the joinery so much easier!!!

It's our first project for the year. Another "Dan design", worked on together with Tom (who is crazy for morticising now after making up Rocker's jig!). We have got one router built into a table and the other we keep free standing for the Rocker jig.

The credenza is not quite finished yet, I got a bit ahead of myself with the photos, it still needs another coat of danish oil and a good waxing.

The two shelves are adjustable - just move the pins on either end to adjust the height of the shelf to accommodate either wine glasses or platters.

Made from solid Australian hardwoods - whatever we pulled out of the packet from Lismore really! It's big and heavy - will fit along one side of the wall quite nicely in the spare room.

Lastly, thanks in advance to my physiotherapist who will have to fix my back after hauling this beast up the back stairs!!!

    Cheers
    Dan and Tom

That's a very imaginative use of the tin - really sets the credenza off.

Nice work, got some nice timbers in there from the looks of it. Tin adds a nice finish but I would have given it a coat of paint .. but thats just me

Great work Dan and Tom! Another fabulous piece to add to your amazing collection! I love the red timber on the top & front, and also love the mix of timber colours at the back.

    Cheers

Wow that is fantastic. The doors are a bit rusty but it still looks great.

Well done to both of you.

Nice work. Glad it was you carrying it and not me.

Hi Dan - great work there, you two! Love the timbers & the contrast with the tin. Very rustic with the worn paintwork, too.

I know what you mean about the weight - our daughter's 2m jarrah desk will have to be carried upstairs in bits - top attached after it's in place! Maybe you could have a floor section that opens, and an endless chain hanging from a rafter upstairs, since your workshop is underneath....a furniture lift, if you like!

    Cheers,

    Jill

Absolutely love it. The tin panels are magic! Don't touch them, whatever you do!!

Greeny on way for a very imaginative use of materials.
