    Default windows media player

These days my WMP will not play music or demos direct from a web site.

Some instances I get the opportunity to right click and save target as and then WMP will perform, but other occasions this facility is not available.

Obviously I have been saddled with an upgrade that I didnt want.

Can anyone tell me how to get an earlier version of WMP which does not suffer this unwanted and unrequested action?

Or is there a free software program out there that performs the same functions as WMP?

    I'm windows XP.

There are several media players out there that will work with XP.

Try this site it may work for you. http://www.oldversion.com/program.php?n=wmp

Copy right is becoming the issue now.

That similar here. I have some AVI files on a shared drive on another PC and the latest media player won't play them.

If I copy the file to the local hard drive they do play.

But in this instance it is a a Canadian company, PG Music that has put some copyright free demo/samples at its website prior to purchase of its software and WMP has stopped a legitmate transaction that was available in the past.

    Thanks for the link.
