CA + Paper Towel + Finger
A couple of tips for anyone trying a CA finish on some turned work for the first time.
When several layers of CA soaked paper towel sticks to a finger do not panic.
Get to the kitchen & slather olive oil on the papered digit and gently work the oil around the joint where the paper meets the skin (thumb nail proved effective)
Be gentle with yourself and eventually there will be a parting of the ways.
Second tip I hear you ask.....
Buy some disposable plastic gloves.
Don't ask me how I know these things
MarkWhat you say & what people hear are not always the same thing.

Or use a little Acetone
It will dissolve the CA glue.

or buy 3mm craft foam and slice into inch wide and the ca will not soak thru,
And you can use the same spot on the foam over and over for about 3 or 4 pens, then cut the half inch off and do another 4.
And if you put the drop of CA in one corner the rest levels it out while moving, no more high spots.

Found using gloves often makes the whole procedure worse. Folder the paper in three now and use a little caution. Adds to the fun of wood turning.

Or don't worry at all, it comes off by itself in a day or so. The only time I consider doing something is if two fingers become one, then the acetone comes out.

I find its just easier and less wastefull to use cotton buds ( or as the yanks would say Qtips) on pens.
Far less CA is used and ya fingers stay well away.
cheersAny thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.

Paper towel isn't that expensive.... Fold it a few more times to get an impenetrable work area.
Better still don't use CA. Try this stuff.
