NORM IN THE NORTH (2nd try)

Norm travelled to the far, bright North,
For years he'd had the wish
To try those shining waters,
For Norm, he loved to fish.

Arrived, he went down to the pub
And asked a gnarled, old man,
"Now who can show me where to fish?"
He answered, "Jackie can!

He knows the wily ways of fish-
The finest guide afloat!
Go down to the quay and mention me,
And look for a long, green boat"

So Norm and Jackie struch a deal,
(It did not cost Norm dear),
That Jackie now would be his guide
Each day that Norm was here.

Next morning, in the pearly dawn,
Before the town awoke,
They met beside the sleeping quay
And firmly Jackie spoke.

"Today we'll fish the South!" he said.
"The right side of the bay.
That's where they'll be, just lean on me,
I know where fishes play!"

And, sure enough, the fish were there.
Norm could not wish for more.
A satisfied and happy man,
He turned at last, for shore.

Next day, they fished the Southern side,
Likewise the third and fourth,
But on day five, Guide Jackie said,
"Today, they're in the North!"

To Norm's amazement, there they were!
He murmured, "Who'd a' thought?"
In all his dreams he'd never known
Such piscatorial sport.

The days sped by in fishing fun.
Each day would Jackie know,
If North or South of that wide bay,
The long, green boat should go.

At last, Norm says, "My time is up.
But, just before I leave,
Please tell me, what's the secret, mate,
That you've got up your sleeve?"

Then Jackie says, "I'll tell ya, boss,
The anwer's with me wife,
Though how she knows what fish'll do,
I can't say- on my life!

Each dawn I wake and look at her,
To see which side she's lyin'
If left, it's North, if right it's South,
My long, green boat goes flyin'"

"Well, I'll be blowed!" says Norm, amazed,
Ain't that a funny turn?
But, while we're on this subject, mate,
There's one more thing I'd learn

if left is North, and right is South
To find the fishes track,
Then what about, if when you wake,
Your wife lies on her back-

What happens then?" our Norman said,
"To your strange premonition?"
Says Jackie, "If she's on her back,
Then boss, I DON'T GO FISHIN'!"
