Paint Brushes, Rollers and Painting Advice?
Hi,
I haven't done much painting in the past but the wife wants me to paint the outside of our weatherboard. Like most tasks if you haven't got the right goods then it is going to be harder to do a proper job!!
I am seeking advice of which type and manufacturer paint brushes to buy/or avoid? I have already made a start on a couple of new wooden frames that have gone around the new aluminium window frames. However, I used a roller on one and a paint brush on another. Both efforts were hopeless - I've seen better job(s) done at our local kinder-garden. I don't think it as helped by the warm weather as the paint started curdling - what should one do? Stop painting? Is the paint now no good? Btw it is Dulux (Water Based - Low Sheen) Weathershield.
I think I might join a course (TAFE) in the New Year to get some experience - any better ideas?.
I would really appreciate some advice on the items I have mentioned.
Regards
David

The best advice I could give you is talk to the staff at your local paint shop like Paint Spot to steer you in the right direction. Be prepared to spend some money on decent brushes.

Try the Dulux site for some tips and guides on painting. I usually decant into a smaller container so the tin doesn’t go off in the heat. You can add small a amount of water if it is thickening up. In summer paint in the cool of the morning before the walls heat up and “lay off” in one direction whilst the paint is still wet. Preparation is key, as on the back of the can. Between sessions you can wrap your brushes or rollers in cling wrap or a plastic bag to exclude any air from drying them out, they will last a couple of days without drying.
