Best window lock for Double hung sash
Hi all
I have to fit window locks to some (20) 1950's double hung sashes. They have the normal sash fastener in the middle, and most of them have a 3 mm nail inserted into the stiles where they meet. This works OK (no break-ins so far!) but I wish to replace the nail with a key lock for better security and insurance rates. So far I have seen a number of locks by Whitco etc called CYL4 Multi bolt which look like they'll do the job.
The winow sashes are about 40 mm thick, so a bolt will need to be 60-70mm long to pin the 2 sashes together.
Has any one else done this, any advice BEFORE I start drilling?
Thanks - Grunt
