Treated Pine Sleepers
G`day are treated pine sleepers safe to use for sand pits etc?

G'day Mick,
Pretty sure CCA treatment is not recommended and illegal for this type of application in most parts of Oz. There are other types of treatment that are safer (ask the timber yard) or you could use a class1 hardwood such as ironbark or cypress pine.

There have been quite a few threads on this topic, with all the debates about safety, types of treatment etc. I have just used treated pine on my vegie garden and coated it with an acrylic bitumen, which will stop the kids touching it and licking their fingers and should also make the wood last even longer.
