G'day everyone
Hello everyone,
I'm Mick from Townsville and I've decided to give a bit of wood working a crack. I haven't had much experience besides making the odd set of shelving and a bar I fixed up a few Christmases ago, but I still managed to get the job done. I'm wanting to start off with small furniture projects, maybe children's toys etc. Most of the tools I own however aren't what you'd use for woodworking, so any suggestions on a basic set up would be fantastic, keeping in mind the missus will flip if I go overboard .
Cheers,
Mick

G'Day & Welcome to a top forum "Mick".
Good see another toymaker.....
There are quite a few members from FNQ..
On the tools, the sky is the limit and there goes your budget; who can never have too many power tools, hand tools or jigs.
I'd encourage you to check out "clearance sales", "garage sales", deceased estates" and flee markets as a good source of quality old tools at a price your wife will allow you to have cheerfully [especially if you're making some toys or special bits for her].
You'll find a heap of helpful & knowledgeable blokes & ladies on the forum and for most very willing to assist.
Make sure you show off your handiwork as everyone loves a photo, especially WIP photos with build notes.
Enjoy the forum.
Enjoy your woodwork.

Welcome to the forum. It does not matter what you start off with as the tool needs to last a life time. Take some time looking around the forum I am sure you will get ideas and as mention take a look at the toy section.
