Hi

We had some 130mm Blackbutt boards laid about six months ago. They are top nailed and finished with an oil modified product. Over the winter some shrinkage has occurred, about 2mm gaps in some places. This is okay with us, but the time has come for the floor to have a good spring clean.

Will a water (mopping) damage the floor by getting into the joins and causing expansion? Is there some particular product that is best to use for cleaning the floor? A good method?

I just want to be sure I'm not going to ruin the boards by getting something liquid in the tongue/groove join.

Any advice is much appreciated...
