Default How To Fix This Kind of Leaking Twin-bowl Tap?

I only have the cold line hooked up. Water seems to be pouring out of the joints. The nozzle seems to swivel around 360 degrees without hindrance, as much as you like, doesn't screw up tight or anything.

Took that long threaded bolt out that we use to tighten the thing down. It didn't enable the thing to come apart.

Took the blue/red thing out, that didn't reveal a magic way in.

I suppose it can be fixed? There's a washer or something in there? How do I get at it, anyone know?

p.s. while waiting for help I've been googling and learning. I think there should be something in there to put an allen key into.

And then a cartridge? Been there before I think. Once. Can cost $30 -$40 for a cartridge I think.

We only want cold water on this. And it's got two tubs. So we don't really need a mixer. Just a cold water 'swivel' to cover two tubs.

Looking through all the taps on Bunnings and tradelink and such I'm just overwhelmed by the array.

But I do see a tap for only $30 which would probably be better than spending on fixing this (and some other bit goes wrong because it's old). Except it doesn't swivel.

So can I ask those with tons of experience if there's some variety of tap I could/should search for that would be the best way out of this? $20 already thrown away on buying this thing second hand.

Plenty of sink type taps around that require three holes in the sink: spout, hot, cold. Dont want them I think. This sink has only the one hole.

After you remove the blue/red thing, you may need to lift the handle up to be able to put your hex key in.
Other problems you might have After loosening the grub screw the handle might be difficult to remove. If you get the handle off there is what I will call a dress ring to remove. This might unscrew by hand (Hooray!) or be a (Censored) to remove. Generally it is curved and using any sort of pliers will damage the finish. Once this is removed there is a nut that holds the cartridge on its seat. This normally undoes if you can get your spanner onto it.
Wait there is more. A basic cartridge will be $15-30 depending on where you buy it, but it might not be the correct one. Some cartridges if you can get them are over $100.
Reassembly is just the reverse and hope that it all works.

Take riverbuilder's advise - buy a new one.

Spoke to a plumber about a mixer I was having problems with, their advise - buy a new one.

    Hope all this helps.

It is a cheap throwaway mixer so no point investing more money or time with it, just replace it with a Bunnings one for $50 and have no hassles

I had one like that, started to give trouble, so replaced it with a Mondella from Bunnings with a ( 10 year warranty.
Had it for long enough to be happy with it.

    There are 2 issues here.

    1. To run a mixer tap with cold only you have to plug the hot side. Image it's a lower case h. The hot and cold come in the bottom and out the top. If the lever is hard over on cold the hot side is blocked, but as soon as it moves even a tad toward the hot the cold water comes in and goes out the hot side as well as going out the spout.

If you can find a plug with the right thread you can plug it at the tap body, but more likely you'dd have to plug it at the bit that normally screws on to the hot water pipe.

    2. If the seat is leaking as said it's not worth repairing. I've always bought the cheapest mixers in bunnings. If they don't work just take it back for another. If I was looking for quality tapware I wouldn't be looking at bunnings. They are expensive and a lot of the "designer" stuff they sell is crap (and ugly IMO).
