An Englishman, Scotsman and and Irishman were all sentanced to death by Guillotine in a French prison.

The Englishman was taken to be Guillotined and was asked - Face up Or Face down - to which he replied -I'm no coward -Face up.

He was all ready to be put to death. The Executioner pulled the handle, the blade dropped and stopped 1 meter from his head.

Rules being rules he was released a free man.

The Guillotine was dismantled , checked and reassembled and tested OK
