To Use Floor Leveller... or not..
I am about to tile my bathroom floor and so last night I evaluated the floor properly. I noticed that the floor is not as level as originally thought. It dips about 5mm in one place.
I am contemplating using a floor leveller. It is a small room, only 1.5 x 2.2 meters. The flooring is T&G hardwood floorboards covered with tile underlay. The entire floor has been waterproofed using Ardex WPM001. I will be placing 450x450mm porcelain tiles on the floor.
I rang up Ardex technical support and they told me that it is probably best I do apply a floor leveller considering the tiles I am putting down. He recommended Arditex applied straight over the waterproofing. After it has dried, I could optinoally waterproof the floor or leave as-is and tile straight over it.
Has anyone ever done this before? I am afraid that the level of the leveller will only be around 2mm in places. I am wondering if it will adhere properly to the existing waterproofing membrane.
Anyone have any comments? Would be appreciated.
