    Default Searching the forum

    G'day,
I am a bit frustrated with the returns to my searches. I have no idea what I am doing wrong and hopefully someone will be able to enlighten me.

When I do a search, I get a number of what looks like good hits. I then click or double click on various parts and it takes me to the forum where the result was found and without the "hit" in sight! The only problem with this is that the forum contains a whole bunch of pages which is as useless as tits on a bull! I did the search to narrow what I was looking for and avoid having to go through every question ever asked or topic discussed. I also liked the idea of not asking a question asked by someone else.

What am I doing wrong here?

Any hints, tips, illumination would be greatly appreciated!

    TIA
    Boris.

    Hi

Can you tell me which column you are clicking on when your viewing the search results page?

There is a thread/starter column and also a forum column.

    regards
    Steve

    G'day Steve,
I am clicking on the column heading "thread/thread starter". I tried it from a number of the spots within the search results with the same problem. However, a search worked as I expected when I do the search within the forum. Hopefully this description will help you identify where I am doing the search from. The frustrating one is at the top level of the forums and you get bit map type of icon where you have to type in the word. Within the forum where it works, it asks you to type the answer eg type Renov8. Which isn't really and answer to a question but it worked ;-)

    Cheers,
    Boris.

When I do an advanced search I tick the box in search options to return the results as posts and not as threads. Gives more results but fixes your problem.
