cast iron bath re-enamel
Hi guys,
I posted in the bathroom topic but only got 1 reply, i was hoping some tilers might have some knowledge ..
i re-enameled my old bath about a 3 month ago. I bought the product (tub n tile) from mitre ten, used as advised and let sit for much longer than advised before filling with water.
I have poured over 10 hot baths now and the fumes coming off the thing are still very very strong.
Its unuseable really... just smells like sniffing nail polish and the last effort left me with a racing heart and headaches for a couple of hours, great as i was just going to bed...
Does anybody know whats going on? Any way to remove the fumes/odour.
As i said, hot baths through it already, and has been washed with ajax and other cleaners...
There are no fumes unless it has hot water in it, so its clearly reacting, but surely it should not be. The product wouldnt last five minutes if it did this every time...
As for the job - i mainly re-enameled the bottom, and a few nicks and scratches around the top. So all in all, about a third of entire bath. The rest is still old original enamel.
help?
thanks

i will check this out as i'm about to use tub n tile on a claw foot bath...but my question is did you mix the parts correct, also as you only did a section of the bath, maybe the smell is from what you cleaned back the old enamel with - thats where i would be looking. what and how did you clean the bath and what with ?
i will also talk to a rep and see what they come up with...
i will post up the results after the job is done
