Questions about flashings
Hi all,
I'll do my best to be clear and succinct.
I have recently added a small pergola (1.6m x 3m) in a back corner of my house. Two of the sides of the pergola butt into 2 brick walls of my house (one short side, one long side). I have allowed a little over a 5 degree fall for the roof as a I want to put some colourbond and laserlite on it.
I have ordered the colourbond and laserlite but was worried out of ordering the flashing buy the chap at the plumbing supply store when he questioned the angle I was asking for - that is, I asked for a flashing that was 93degrees and his response was "are you sure that's right?" (eyebrows raised) and my response was "um...I think so...". My questions are thus
1. I'm not great at trig. so if one of you learned chaps could guide me as to a fail safe method for working out the angle of a flashing I would be most grateful.
2. If the angle of the flashing is not spot on, does this matter? Can I just manually screw it in place anyway and fill any gaps with sealer?
3. My brickwalls are rendered - do I need to cut a groove all the way along the wall to slot the flashing into?
The pergola (come waterproof shed) is really a stop gap measure as we have another child due in a week and I need to get my gear out of the new babies room pronto.
Thanks everyone!!
Mick
