    Default Dyes and Sealer

    Hi all,

This is probably a bit of a silly question, but will a water based dye (eg Ubeaut dyes) still work on a piece of timber that has a sanding sealer over the top of it? Or will that prevent it from sinking in properly?

    Thanks

I made this mistake some years ago.

As far as Cellulose Sanding Sealer goes, nope you can't.

However as I don't use acrylic or shellac sealer's I can't speak for them.

Will work over U-Beaut Sanding Sealer which is a shellac base.

Apply one even coat with a clean soft rag, after final sanding. All ow to dry. Preferably overnight then sand lightly with the finest grit you have available preferably 1200 grit but not below 600 grit. The rest of the instructions are on the data sheet in the above link.

Hope this is of some help.

    Cheers - Neil
