What's the best way to finish yakisugi (scorched) eating implements?
I make bowls and other eating items and sometimes scorch them for aesthetics. I usually use pure tung oil on raw timber, but I wonder if it takes as well when the wood is burned. I haven't used any of the items long enough to see if the protective oil fails sooner than usual. Does anyone know of any other finish that's known to work well on charred wood?
