    Smile G'day

    G'day to everyone.

Thanks for letting me join your forum.

I live in Hervey Bay, Qld. Best climate in the world (great for making tools rust if left unattended). I live on a 5 acre block half covered by bush and backing onto a mangrove creek. My wife Gayle, three dogs, 32 chooks and four roosters last count, as well as the local wild life visiters such as kangaroos, lizards, snakes, spiders, mosquitoes, midgees and plentiful bird life also live here with me. Paradise!!!

I am very new to woodworking and a total beginner at wood carving and have found your site of great help already thankyou.

I am at present attempting to acquire some second-hand carving chisels and have a question.
I am looking at buying some chisels which have swiss made plus two numbers divided by a forward slash (eg 2/25, 12/10, 7/20) on the handles. The numbers are repeated on the throat part of the chisels. Is anyone able to tell me what brand they may be, possibly the quality of the steel and what they should cost in good condition? Also, are all swiss made chisels of high quality?

    Cheers

    Grant

Hi Grant and welcome to the forum. I can't help you but I am sure someone will be able.
I would put up a thread if I were you in the woodcarvers section Here you should get plenty of advice there. Good luck.
    Reality is no background music.

    Welcome to the madhouse Grunter.

Surprised you have no whales in the backyard
but given time I am sure you will work on it.

    G'day Allan

    Thanks for the warm welcome.

Haven't seen any whales up the creek here. They would be a bit small I would imagine because the creek mouth is only a couple of feet deep at full tide. Plenty of mud crabs though.

You have given me an idea for first carving project. Thanks.

    Cheers

    Grant
