Default Nike "free" running shoes- anyone tried?

I'm on a shoe thing at the mon=ment, it seems. I need soem new runners. Actually for doing tai chi in. Has anyone had a pair of Nike Free running shoes? Or their wife? I'm looking for shoes that give a good feel of the ground, yet have enough support that you don't roll sideways.

They are $160 or so in Athlete's Foot. But looking on WWW, I can get 'em from US for $60 it seems. I've tried them on so I know what size I am. And they even have a bigger colour range! Wadaya reckon?

The soles are to sticky. Would be good though. Their price is a bit closer to "free" .

Having knocked back the Volleys on the basis that they're too sticky
    Perhaps these need considering

My wife is very particular about her shoes. The only runners that she has found to be comfortable for her own feet are Asics Gels.
I wish she could find some cheaper than the locals charge.

The middle pair that Springwater posted would actually be perfect. I would love a pair for myself but the importers are charging way too much for them in Australia. The brand is Five Fingers and are all about functional training.

Be careful of shoes with a high sole as it can really mess with your proprioception (balance). Your Centre of Gravity (CoG) is a very specific point in your body (usually around your belly button) and a shoe which raises your CoG by as little as 10mm will mess with your balance. Personally I would be looking at Asics, New Balance & Brooks. There is a brand called Ryka that only make womens fitness shoes that have a pretty good reputation too. Nike make some good shoes but a lot of their line is more about fashion and and gimmicks.

The Dunlop Volleys & KT26's are good options if you're not going to be running in them and if the Tai Chi is on the grass they should be fine. If on an indoor basketball court or similar just go barefoot or wear socks.
It's only a mistake if you don't learn from it.

Just a quick note to make sure you get the correct size if ordering internationally. It seems a size number here is something different in the US and UK.

The Minister for Fashion had to spend a bit of time checking out the "conversions" when getting a pair of Doc Martins from overseas for her wedding clogs. (White boots with roses up the side...quite nice...believe it or not.)
