I'll just get the last word in.
if you could give a shiite. Better than the bold and the restless and I wonder how long it'll take before this threads erased. People don't like honesty do they.
Just got back on line (dispite saying I wouldn't come back ), checked my email (thankyou kindly for the support), and noticed my name in a thread title. Kept reading, and tripped on some bullshite here and there. So I'll put it straight ok.
In that thread about drivels (?)....I read the rules at the beginning, but kept reading through pages and pages of arguement (as you do). Kept on reading about 'friday threads'.......
'What the hells a Friday thread' I thought. Heard it before.
So I just went ahead and asked something like this.....
.... So whats this friday business ? ...does it happen after dinner time where all the locals hang around talking ?????....sounds like a barbeque to me.
Thats all I said. I didn't tell anyone to get ****** or anything. All I wrote was 3 sentences. I didn't carry on for paragraphs like that dingo fella(no offence dingo. I like reading your stuff) or anything like.
Stuart didn't like it for some anal reason, and had to write to me that pethetic letter, and 'discredit' me.
uno this
**********
One thing to do it, another to deliberately do so in Ubeaut's own post on the subject.
If it wasn't spelt out so clearly in the first post that you would get a warning first, you would simply have been banned for a week, but I guess you just want to push the rules just as far as you can.
So this infraction has a LONG expiry, and we have a long memory
*********
( Look I don't care if PM's are supposed to be private. If I'm in the wrong, then he shouldn't have any problem with the world seeing it. )
Anycase, is that drivel is it ?.......Well then why did Groggy write me this in another PM after reading that thread (sorry Groggy, there's just so much ???????? floating about)
***************
Thanks Jake, I was hoping my post would calm things down a bit in that thread.
****************
Your both moderators arn't you. So why so different responses to that one single harmless post.
I didn't know whose sides who, or whats what. Didn't care. Just wanted to know what this friday night thing was all about, and if I was missing out on something.
I've had a gut full of types who like to 'displine' others over nothing. I coped that on a UKsite where I was banned for nothing.
Thats it.
I don't want to be here if I can't be myself with all these anal rules I got to be aware of. I want to have a laugh and I want to talk about woodwork. Too late to be any different.
So seeya.

Jake, did you read the PM from UBeaut?
And for the record, my response was written as I didn't believe you had read my post. I had hoped you would read my post then perhaps remove yours.

Hope you stick around Jake.
As I see it, there has been way too much aggro on the board... Mods and Admins getting a caning, members getting a caning.... just a dirty and stupid situation that seems beyond everyones control to make good.
You seem to have been caught up in the mix.
Stick around, the forum is a better place for your presence.
If you do sod off, don't you dare do it without sending me your email addy... you are too much of an interesting and valuable bloke to disappear into the crowd.
All the best.....
We need more calm.

What the ****
I go away for a bit of a breakover Easter and find all heck breaking loose and Jake threatening to chuck the toys out of the cot....Sheesh
Clearly everyone has different levels of tolerance towards almost everything and drivel is no different. But if the "war on drivel" has the consequence that someone like Jake is selected as undesirable, then like other "wars on...", you have to look at how well founded it is.
I still think that the reaction to the Friday (and other) drivel was excessive, but, even if it was, the proposed solution was sensible and even-handed. So it should be a non-issue.
Let's just get on with living under the new rules, but - plea to mods and admins - please exercise discretion and caucus among yourselves before jumping on a casual driveller - it may not be drivel at all or may not be as drivelly as you think it is.
And Jake - I hope that when you cool down you decide that these forums are a good place to be and continue to contribute. If not, I join the others in saying that I will miss you and I would like to keep in touch with your experiments some other way.Cheers
Jeremy

To answer Jake's question - friday drivel was/is a thread in which a group of like-minded drivellers pretend to be working but are just shooting the breeze and pretending that they are coming and going from an imaginary pub. The conversation is a bit like what happens when a bunch of friends meet at a pub - jokes, personal lines and bad puns as well as good-natured badinage, as well as some discussion of things that they all like (in this case wood).
I find it fun. Others find it irritating, esp. someone who is searching and gets a heap of hits in one of these threads.
The only real problem, now that the Ubeaut/ suggestion is in operation, is that some of the Friday drivellers started to behave (or some people thought they were behaving) in the same way when contributing to "serious" threads.
On which note, I agree with Al. Enough has been said on the subject and the whole thing is a great example of why we need to TOLERATE each other if we are to make the WWF continue as the great place that it is.Cheers

I'll have the last word on this one.
As Al said: Stuart has been suspended as a Moderator. After 8 years of devoting himself to the forums and its members and the many thousands of hours he has put in here helping you. I for one appreciated his invaluable input and work on these forums. So should you lot have.
He made a mistake. We all make mistakes. Stuart has paid the price. So will the forum without him being around.
Jake is still here and posting. Do the math people.
Stuart and the members of the forums are the big losers here. Not anyone else.
For goodness sake GET OVER IT! Shut up and get on with woodwork.
NOT AT ALL HAPPY
