Help with finishing indoor Teak table for outdoor use?
Hello folks,
I'm a bit confused (Yes, I'm a total amateur at this !) and I thought I'd better ask the experts here before I stuff up my table.
I have an indoor dining table, made of teak, and is pretty heavy and chunky. It is currently waxed only, and not varnished and/or stained, and we have used it for 5 years indoors.
As I'm going to take this table to be used as an outdoor setting now, (exposed to Australian sun, wind rain, heat and cold, 24/7), what is the best finish for it ?
As I love the colour, I don't want to stain it, so, what are my options in terms of type and brand ?
Spar Marine varnish ? (Sikkens ? Feast Watson ?)
Oil ? (Cabots ? Dulux ? Feast Watson ? )
Decking oil ? (Cabots ? Sikkens ?).
I hope someone would be able to recommend a good type of product, please.
Thanks !

If you are going to put it out side and you are going to clear finish it...regardless expect to refinish it every couple or 3 years.
As far as I can see your only option is marine polyeurathane varnish...and I would not be buying a hardware store brand.
go to a marine supplier and look for brands like Hempel, Norglass or alatex.
another option may be one of the specialist marine teak decking products.
no matter which you will have to scrub the daylights out with solvent of it to get rid of last spot of wax.
One thing that will improve its life considerably is a drop cloth.
cheersAny thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.
