Default Finally, a low cost moisture meter!

I have finally found a cheap moisture meter that seems to do the job without costing hundreds of dollars.

For $36 Burg Wachter (German) make the moisture meter shown, the profi scale. It is simple yet has a few functions and can even tell you the ambient temperature, it comes with a small case with a belt loop and also has a wrist strap.

It comes well packed and has a plastic insert to deactivate the batteries. If you are careful when opening you can keep the insert under the cover for disabling the batteries again for storage. There is a plastic cover on the glass with some stylised number graphics that is removed then you are ready to go. I tried it on a piece of timber I know to be quite dry (from my workbench build) and it came up at 9% which would be about right.

I am glad to have something cheap to use that does the job. I'll try to test it against one of the more expensive units but I don't know anyone with one.

    Thanks for the review Groggy.

    A few questions:
It looks like a budget unit and can't complain about the price, but is it really made in Germany?
Another question is resolution - what is the displayed resolution above and below 10%?
What is its rated max and min MC?
What sort of batteries does it take?

Rather than compare it it with another meter - which is unlikely to be right anyway - it might be better to compare it with a "by weight" determined dryness.

    Cheers
    Bob
