A Third Hand for the Drill Press.
Picked this up this morning. A Prima Clamp. One of these was fitted to a Waldown in the WAIT ( Curtin Uni ) Jewellery and Silversmithing Workshop when I was a student there 30 years ago. It would have prevented many an injury over the years. Works by means of a cam action. With the cam loosened the clamp body is free to slide on the drill column. Neat. Twenty bucks. The knobbed arm is not original, just borrowed from the 3M alongside for looks. I will have to find out what the real one looks like.

Well I'll be blowed. That looks really neat. I have one of those half-pair of vice grips that needs some kind of tee nut...your post reminded me of that...should keep me out of trouble tonight when the jet lag kicks in.

I like that - really neat. I have T slots in my drill table but I'm always concerned that if I use a half vise grip thing like the one that Greg is mentioning, one day I'll break a T slot. (So far I've only ever bolted items to the table that support the other side)
Another thing for the list.

i also remember those HD cam action clamp doohickey things from high school metal work. I have a cheap chinese cam action clamp thing for my woodwork DP table but it's not a patch on the one you show pics of.

Snap Stewart! I just found and filed that same photo 2 minutes ago. And that's all I could find searching for Prima clamp. Nothing in my McPhersons catalogues or my Buck and Ryan Catalogue.

Hi BT,
I'll give you $26
I've never seen anything like it(or at least if I have I didnt know what I was looking at lol)
Is the thumb screw just a length adjustment or is there something else going on?
Stuart

I had to resort to a hammer and drift. And who do you reckon I'd blame if I had broken it?

Thanks BT,
I reckon making one of those would be a nice useful project...
Since Stuart has upped the ante, I'll go for $27...

Man, I can't even move this thread to the Market Place as auctions aren't allowed there
That is nice bit of kit BT, wouldn't mind one of those (not bidding though)

Nope........ who?
I'd think about making one for my drill but I think it would have to be to big and I have more than enough on my to do list. Though you now having me thinking about something to do the same sort of job, then maybe I wouldnt use my mill so much for drilling holes.
