    Post Weight Loss.

This thread is basically a follow up to "Have The Health Gurus Got It Wrong?"

Now nearly 4 months into the different way of eatin g I have lost nearly 17 kgs. The wife has lost close to 12kg.

A number of observations on my current state of health, and some of these were mentioned before:

Lower blood glucose and triglycerides. Lower LDL count.

Far less farting!! Almost non existent!

No more snoring. Same for Ana.

I had peurogic neuritis . This has cleared up. Likewise my dandruff has vanished.

I had a cradle cap/scoriosis type affliction on the scalp and in my ears. GONE.

Don't feel the need to snack or graze.

Aches and pains that I used to feel are no longer part of my life.

Default Weight loss and health improvement

That is certainly great news about your huge weight loss and huge improvement to your health - congratulations.
I am also starting to have health issues and would like to do something positive to fix it.
I have been to the web site and read all the info and would like to as a couple of questions please
    How did you start?
Did you do the line course? (it seems time consuming at 4 hours per week for 5 weeks)
Did you buy the book ?
Do you drink alcohol and if so what do you drink?
How do you find cooking the recipes are they time consuming, can you store some in fridge/freezer?

    Thank you

    Default Book & Course

    Lignum
If you google Tim Noakes and go to his official banting web site you will see at top of screen "On Line Course" then also on same page if you scroll right down to the bottom on the left hand side you will see "The Book"
Just as a matter of interest all bookshops I contacted were sold out and I only managed to get one on Ebay yesterday. It cost about $20 free shipping

    Thanks Woody.

You might like to have a listen to this. Tim Noakes talking to Aussie Cricket team doctor Peter Bruckner.

Great work Arthur and pleased that all is going well for you and Ana.

We must have similar aims, on September 1st I woke up and told my wife
that I was starting a diet as I was getting overweight and sluggish.
Cutting out bread, cakes, desserts, pies and Diet Coke was an immediate
success and at my weekly weigh-in on Monday I had lost 14.2kg.

Quite pleased with myself as I guess you are too. Well done!

A bit of a thread dig but I read this some time ago and the interest level rose as I have always thought that there was more to weight loss and gain than was realised......After The Biggest Loser, their bodies fought to regain weight

Chris the Biggest Loser and the Noakes approach are almost polar opposites. I am still down about 26+ kilos.

I fluctuate a bit but I think we all do that anyway. I want to lose another 15 kilos if possible as Ana and I are
going to Africa next year and some flights require you to be less than 100 kilos,6-7 would do that fr me but
I really want to be much lower.

Note that some took years to regain the weight. I firmly believe that we have a genetic weight and despite what we do we eventually reach that level and do not seem to go any higher.

Chris, we have been travelling for a while with our 5th wheeler and therefore have observed a fair number of older Australians.

We are constantly amazed at the number of obviously overweight people.

The weight I am talking about I would in no way describe a "genetic", when you look at historic photos (which we have done a bit when visiting museums) it is very rare to see people that much overweight.

So if this is "genetic" then genes must have altered a fair bit in the last 100 years.

One thing we have noticed is that there appears to be some some correlation between tummy size and a stubby in the hand at any time of the day.

Other factors are at play at "happy" hour where copious amounts of alcohol are consumed daily together with lots of cheese, dips and other fattening substances.

    PS

Pick up any book about Australians in WWI and compare the size of our young soldiers then with similarly aged males today. There isn't a beer belly in sight in those photos, look around you at most of the males in this age group today and it is not a pretty sight.

That is where I have a problem with all this and I have said it before. I am overweight, I do not snack, eat three times a day and have never eaten the generic take away like Maccas or KFC, I have never even set foot in a Maccas. I have one beer a day and that's it so I guess I don't fit the pattern. I am just about the same weight of my father who did drink copious amounts of beer every day and never bothered about his diet

Well, it's a matter of the ratio of inputs to outputs, so what's your daily level of physical activity?
    Cheers, Ern
