    Default Pictures gone missing

I have just been looking through an old thread of mine and to my dismay all the images are missing from the first few pages. https://www.woodworkforums.com/showth...=148329&page=2

Now i know this happens if a photo bucket etc account is changed or deleted, but these photo's are all on my WWF albums. https://www.woodworkforums.com/album.php?u=74282 Has there been a URL change for these or somesuch?

Seeing as how the lathe in question is one of only 2 i have ever seen on the internet i'd like the images to come back if possible.

    Cheers,
    Ewan

Ewan, have referred your query to the powers that be and they will be looking in to this.

For anyone else who thinks pics have gone missing, here's what we have discovered.

Looks to be tied in with our removal of vBSEO (Search Engine Optimisation) program about 2 1/2 weeks ago. vBSEO was integrated with the forums but no longer being supported by vBulletin and had become a security threat. Took almost 3 weeks to fully uninstall it and get or keep all of our search engine rankings and everything else that went along with it. The problem with pictures was not one we had anticipated or even knew of until Ueee mentioned it in here.

We are working on a universal fix which could take a few days. Only other option is to restore each and every pic individually one at a time and this could take until 2021 if this is a wide spread problem.

    Cheers - Neil

Working on it Bryan - It appears to have the wrong urls to the pics in each post the same as Ueee's did. I have asked Steven for a universal fix but this may take a couple of days.

I did a manual repair to one to make sure the pics were there and it worked fine, but best to do a universal fix rather than heaps of searching for correct pics then manually editing and changing each one.

Neil, do you mean a universal fix for all pics missing on the forum, or just Bryan's? There is a least one thread of mine where pics are missing, but i haven't checked others as yet.

Was under the impression the last fix was universal but I guess it wasn't.

    Same deal as Bryan.

If you can find the individual posts where pics have gone missing please post a list of them here and I'll add it to the to do list and hopefully this time it will fix them all if it is the same problem.

    Cheers - Neil

Sorry Neil, somehow I missed your reply here.

The one that i know about is this one (and the pics are still missing from the first post)
    https://www.woodworkforums.com/showthread.php?t=181639

If you need it, the BB code for the first pic is (I used the bb in the thread):

    and the second:

I'll have a look through some other threads to see if they are ok.

Just been doing some checking, and unfortunately there are other threads with pics missing. In the last couple of years I know that I have been using mainly BBcodes, and in a couple of threads there are links to Photobucket, but before that I can't remember if they were BBcodes or just attachments.

Threads with pics missing (so far):

    https://www.woodworkforums.com/showthread.php?t=181737

In that thread just above there are still pics from other contributors which are attachments, so maybe there is a clue to the missing pics being BBcodes?

However, in this next thread I'd be pretty sure that I used BBcodes for my posts, and the pics are still there.......

    https://www.woodworkforums.com/showthread.php?t=182159

This next one is a bit bizarre: the link goes to a post that has the same pic as the first link in my previous post in this thread (the drill deck, first pic) and the pic is still there ( and in both cases would have definitely been by BBcode):
    https://www.woodworkforums.com/showth...14#post1749914

The following thread is a monster of some 722 posts and was very picture heavy. Many of them are still there (was using Photobucket quite a bit) but some of them were definitely BBcode, and appear to be missing. The link will take you to a post where there are missing pics, and there will be others missing:
    https://www.woodworkforums.com/showth...31#post1680631

I also just noticed in that thread that the number of readers has reduced considerably to 79, where on the 22/09/2013 it was 338 readers (I was keeping stats for my own amusement), so maybe there is something else going on besides missing pics.

I just tried to see what would happen when I copied two posts to a word document to see what I got (the two posts with and without the drill deck pic). In neither case did the BBcode or pic show up, BUT when when I pasted it into a reply here it did. In the word document it just shows up as a blank line.

That doesn't prove anything, and I guess isn't helpful, but is just an observation.

    STILL WORKING ON IT.

Won't show up in word doc because they are on the forums. In your album.

They all for some reason have the wrong address. They can be found and uploaded manually but no wau am I going to try and track down every single pic and manually reload them. Many, many, nmany, hours of work to do that.

Steven is trying to find a work round for it if not able to work it out we will reassess the matter and put the outcome in here.

Cheers Neil. No, I wouldn't expect you to reload every pic - as you say a mammoth task. The problem as I see it is that it may be happening to anyone who uses the BBcode.

Re Word doc - I knew the pic wouldn't show up, but I thought the BBcode might, but it's just a blank line (even though pasting into a post reveals the pic (i.e. the BBcode is there). Ni big deal at all, just thought it may provide a clue.

Ueee: do you use the BBcode, and was it those pics that were missing in your posts?
