Hello All,

We are trying to save a bit of money by building a deck beside our pool ourselves. We don't have a lot of experience with this type of thing ourselves but I have noticed a lot of useful information that will help us in other threads.

Can anyone advise the type of timber that we should use - does it make a difference having the deck in close proximity to water? I was after a reddish coloured timber. Unfortunately, that is the extent of my technical knowledge

Also, can anyone recommend a good timber yard in Brisbane / Gold Coast?
