minwax helmsman teak oil
http://www.minwax.com.au/wood-produc...msman-teak-oil
I'm finishing a tassie oak coffee table. the plan was to use HBO but i have run out so instead of rushing and getting some, the cheapskate in me made me decide to use something I have already. I got a tin of the minwax helmsman teak oil which i bought probably about 8months ago and put aside because I wasn't happy with the heavy solvent smell along with the limited list of ingredients listed online. whats in the stuff? just solvents and synthetic oils?
im running a couple of test pieces, one in spotted gum and another in tassie oak atm. they should be ready to inspect tomorrow morning.
has anyone used the product and found it to raise the grain a week or two after application like tung oil can do?
does anyone know if the oil drys hard inside the timber fibres or does it remain highly flexible to cope with exterior use?
and does anyone know of the durability of it when used inside the house?
thanx
