Lay Out Texture
Hi,
When I was a trade school we had big blue lay out textures for drawing on material instead of using blue marking out paint.
I cannot remember the brand, they where blue, approx 2'" thick in the body, and refillable. They where really handy and I cannot find one anywhere in Sydney or the net.
Anyone know what I'm talking about and where I could get one?
Cheers Ben

Ben,
I've never seen one of the markers you describe, maybe because I've never set foot in a trade school, but for what it's worth I use a blue ARTLINE 90 chisel tip marker for marking out the bits and pieces. Cheap and handy.

Hi,
These textures are bigger than anything you can get from say officeworks or such. Like a Artline but on steroids. Really handy, let a paint brush without the mess.
I'll keep looking.
Thanks Ben

This is the biggest artline seem to make Artline 130 Permanent Marker Black at $15.63 in Permanent Markers
Body is 30mm, and it looks like the tip is about the same.

Hi there Ben,
when you mentioned 'refillable', a penny dropped in my memory: I used just what you describe to mark wool bales (in another life) through a stencil.
I reckon if you (or I) went into a stock and station supply house, they would not only know what we are talking about but also have them in stock! What you reminded me of has nothing to do with art or office - it is a common tool in the wool trade (and maybe others).
I'm guessing it's called something like 'stencil marker' - or even 'stencil texta'.
Cheers,
Joe
