Default New here and new to woodworking.

Hey all. First I am one of those people that can understand and discuss physics, theology, sub atomic theory, electrical engineering etc. having said that, I can not cut a straight line to save my soul! I can measure 10 times and still get it wrong. Sure in wood shop high school with $100,000 in machines ok, things came out ok. But with hand tools, and a few power tools well you get the idea. So, everyone knows someone like me yes? Well, here is why I'm here and need you all. I have a small collection of speakers from the 1970's. Mostly veneered walnut. I want to restore them to a little better than new. the following photos.

That is to say the finish after a few minor repairs of veneers should look like this wood:

so can someone tell me at least my first step?
Or if you have time the whole process?

    Thanks
