Teak Oil problem
Hi,
I just bought a house with a superb decking made of Red Balau (kirai). Before we moved in, the previous owner was nice enough to oil the decking and somehow he managed to mess it up...
The nice red/brownish colour is now gone and has been replaced with a stained, dark brown dirty look....
He used Teknos Wood Oil and I am in desperate need to restore it to the original colour and oil it the propper way...
Please help! What should I do, I am afraid to make it worse.....

Hi jsvensson,
With my deck I use a light acid wash and a scrubbing brush to remove any last traces of oil before re-oiling. However you must start this when the deck is dry, right now in WA we are having a wet start to winter - I should have oiled my deck before this started, now some of the wood is soaking up water - not good!
In your picture it looks like recent rain.
I think the acid wash I use it a wattle - bunnings anyhow.
Other people's experience?
