I have had the local truss/frame manufacturers/designers, design a floor bearer for an upperstorey floor so I can open/ demolish a brick wall and make an open plan room. The bearer is a 400x65 LVL.
The load is only carrying floor load and I was wondering what sort of tie down is needed or even bracing.
I have 240x45 joist on one side of bearer and a 150x63 LVL on the other side, (replacing hardwood bearers that dont span the whole distance.)
My question is how do I attach the joist and bearers to the 400 LVL, they will be ontop of the 400 LVL, Is skew nailing sufficient?
I can screw together (bugle screws or bolt?) the occasional joist and 150 bearer as I have overhang.
Do I need any bracing other than blocking between joists for the racking forces?
