    Default Mark Latham Resignation

This is absolutely, categorically not a thread on politics but just a news update.

Mark Latham has announced his resignation as Leader of the ALP and from politics as a whole quoting ill health.

This is absolutely categorically not a comment on a thread on politics, but don't you have to be unwell (I nearly said crook!) to be a politician in the first place.

The day I hear of one resigning because they've woken up feeling fine will be really newsworthy.

Actually wasn't there someone not that long ago in Australian politics who did wake up one morning and say to himself "I don't need this crap" and promptly resigned? I reckon that's about as close to feeling well as any politician could get.

Twas Mal Meninga, and it was actually at the press conference where he was announcing that he was entering politics. A few reporters grilled him about a few previous punchups and he said "I dont need this s**t and walked out.

It's a large vegitable found in the tropics, orange in colour, and tastes like chicken.

Well maybe it is a vegetable.
Or maybe it is a Gospel Singer with hiccups during the song.

does anybody remember the move with John Belushi called Animal House ? about some american fraternity at some mythical university ? Anyway there is this scene where some hippy is sitting on the stairs playing kumbay ya and belushi walks past, grabs the guitar and smashes it to pieces.. at least thats how I remember it. this is the recurring image I have whenever I quote the now famous words.

Is not kumbay ya a god-botherer song sung by junior woodchucks around the campfire ?

anyway so long as I can hum it whilst cooking pancakes and wearing a foil hat i'll be fine....

I maintain that anyone that wants to be a politicain should not be allowed to be one.
