British Wildlife
A bit of British wildlife as locomotive pictures didn't generate any response.
The picture of this hawk (buzzard) was taken from our backdoor last week, the bug ger has eaten most of our small sparrows this summer.woody U.K.

Jow,
Here we call sparrows spriggers and they are an imported pest so a few less is no loss. Do you call them spriggers in the UK?- Wood Borer

BLOODY SPOGGIES!!!!
I reckon the British government should be made to remove all the imported pests that their effin officials brought out here foxes rabbits (tho they are now under sorta control) starlings all because lord poop coulnt indulge in his foxhunts and pidgeon pies.
I have a 25 acre block in an arid area and its only the last few years that there are no rabbits (calicy(sp) ) and foxes (Mr Winchester) and the odd fox, rabbit, feral cat or dog gets to sponser the growth of a tree as fertiliser.
At last the native trees are popping back up even tho we only get 9" rain a good year. And no Im not a greenie just slightly tainted or as Al says 'beige'
Death to all sparrows and their ilk

PS I wonder if we can sue the aristocracy for this??Last edited by fxst; 20th September 2004 at 07:15 PM. Reason: cos I can

Funny thing I love the British wildlife which is in very short supply, You lucky b's must have imported all of ours.
Remember you have the excuse to go out and shoot a few bunnies
and the young hunters amongst you can get out the air pistol and practice shooting SPARROWS.
So our exports to your continent must have some uses.
PS get some of our buzzards (they hunt young rabbits and sparrows)woody U.K.

We can look back and say "well that was a dumb thing to do " when we now know the impact of rabbits, foxes etc. Doubt if those releasing foxes, rabbits etc had much idea of the problems that they were introducing. Sometimes its easy to forget how much we know.
One bit of England that I could do without here is English Ivy. Finally plucked up the courage to point out to my next door neighbour that while he might like his fences and trees covered in ivy I didn't and I was fed up of ripping the stuff out on my side of the fence. I told him I wasn't going to fall out with him over it but I wanted him to know how I felt just in case he wasn't over keen on it himself.
All credit to him that while his initial reaction was, "well actually I like it" he went away and thought about it and this weekend ripped it all out. Of course it will grow back again but hopefully it will be a while before it makes another bid for world domination.
The Bass Coast Council has a great booklet detailing all of the "problem" plants in their area.no-one said on their death bed I wish I spent more time in the office!

Most of these undesirables came in because it was a good idea at the time.

Went past one of the lakes north of Camperdown last week and there was hundreds of black swans walking around on the beaches. Didn't have my camera unfortunately.
A black cockie was really going bananas near my back door a few days ago. Expect some crawly mighta had a feed of black cockie eggs.
