Default Project Engineer seeking work - Melbourne

    G'day ALL

As some of you know and most don't, I've been out of work now for the last 6/7 months. Due to the company's downsizing and restructure there were 250-300 project engineers/management positions made redundant and yours truly one of them after 12.5 yrs with them. Never thought that it would take this long to find another position.
So I'm looking for a project engineering position in the S/E suburbs area of Melbourne. I have been involved in numerous Defence and Commercial Projects in a management capacity.
§ Extensive experience in analytical and engineering support
§ Broad experience in developing effective engineering and project administration processes
§ Streamlining, analysing and improving processes
§ Very strong ability to implement changes and solutions for project and engineering activities
§ Proven planning and scheduling project and engineering activities
§ Effective communication skills including the ability to liaise, advise and negotiate with senior management, stakeholders, clients and staff
I deal well with steep learning curves and find new industries a fresh challenge. I also, due to my extensive experience, tend to bring a fresh approach and fresh ideas.
I am a proven performer who is prepared to go the extra mile, eager to learn and confident in my ability and experience that I bring with me.

If you require a resume please let me know and I will send you a copy without delay.

    Best Regards
    Jack

Jack, there should be increased demand in the Defence sector soon due to the Strategic Reform Project. Some work is just beginning but I expect in the next 6-8 months it will be fully underway and continue for 4-5 years at least. Most large companies are beginning to hire or dust off resume's now. Try dropping your resume' to KPMG and similar companies.

    Jack,

it took me nearly 2 years to find a job, any job, after 20 years in IT, specialising in Oracle.

Current job is installing EFTPOS terminals, and doing deliveries for a local business.

By now, I assume you have learned not to expect any sort of response to job applications, submitting resumes, or hitting "Apply" on seek.com

I'm doing my own industry research, by asking businesses how they're going, each time I do an EFTPOS job, and the consistent response is "definitely better than last year, but folks are still being careful with their money".

So, I hope for your sake (and mine!!!!) that the economy keeps recovering.
The view out my office window is sometimes pretty wonderful, driving around the central coast, but family keep living a lifestyle which matches my previous income

    Cheers,
    Andrew

    Hi Andrew,

Yeah, you're right about the job responses ......its deafening. With over 35yrs experience and qualifications it seems that they don't count and on top of that the doubt starts to set it about one's worth. The only consolation is that I always tell myself that I'm not the only one and it has given me the chance to start my woodwork hobby and love that I had for many years but never took it up till now. This I should have started once I left school and became a tradie not further education into engineering. Oh well, I'm sure I'll find something close to home and not travel far distances to get to work, something that I've been doing for well over 26yrs.
Thanks for your encouragement and hope the economy picks up real quick for all of our sakes.
    Best Regards
    Jack
