Durden Junior Joiner
Hi all, I have just picked up a Junior Joiner 'Transportable'. Looks to be from 60s or 70s but can't find a model number on it. The design number is 40742. It's a great size for my small workshop but don't have a clue how to use it or what I can do on it. Its a table saw and planer but think I can add to it. Does anyone know how I can tell which model it is, and how I can get a manual for it? Also, whats the best way to remove the light surface rust. Apart from that, everything appears to be in working order.
Cheers

Hi Scooby,
my dad had one of these when I was a kid (late 70's). It was old then. You could remove one side of the table, fit an aluminium sanding disc to the end of the saw spindle, then refit the table against the sanding disc. The blade guard is shifted from underneath to over-the top in this mode. make damn sure you put the guard back when you return to saw mode or you may lose a finger or two when you reach under to adjust the saw blade height. I forgot to do this once and the old man ended up with 6 stitches.
I'm pretty sure my dad still has Junior Joiner. He may even have the manual. I'll ask him.
someone on this forum has a manual:

Another manual on Ebay here:

Get a carbide impregnated rubber block for the surface rust.

I have and still use a Durden Junior Joiner, I still have the manual and could scan the pages and email them to you, should you be unable to acquire a proper printed manual.

Thanks Scrapwood & Jack. There was a previous post to buy one on ebay but it doesn't appear to still be available. Thats a 36pp scanning job and I don't want to put you out. I live in Mordialloc, and work in the city (Melbourne) if anyone has one I can borrow and copy, that could be the answer.

Hi Redgoona1
Thanks for your reply. If you could scan the manual and email it to me at [email protected] that would be great.

Hi Scoobydoo556,
Did you get what you were looking for, and if you managed to get a manual - I'm chasing a copy to help with my machine.
