Default Finish for a shop made marking gauge

    Hi friends,

I have just finished making a really nice marking gauge out of Tassie Oak and Jarrah. Can people suggest an appropriate finish for a hand tool, bearing in mind that I would like to both use and admire this piece of work. I have considered the "Hard Burnishing Oil" from Organoil.

Mate theres plenty of options available to you.

But I am going to leave this one for Major Panic to reply too as he makes some absolutly stunning marking gauge's so if anyone is qualified to respond it should be him...

Any kind of oil finish would be a good start to the patina that will develop from use
    Cheers, Ern
