permissions?
Hi, when I try to edit my profile settings I get this message:
kyaden, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
- Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
- If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.
Any ideas? Thanks!
Kya

I think you need over XX number of posts before you can edit. .
I don't know if there are any Stickies regarding access and restrictions new members have. I had a quick look but didn't find anything.
Maybe someone with more knowledge can help out here.Last edited by Treecycle; 24th June 2014 at 10:39 AM. Reason: More detail

I know this is a very old topic but, I've looked for an answer to this question on the forum FAQ and if its there, it's well hidden. It would be helpful for new users like me to have this info available.

the answer is that the information has deliberately NOT been published to avoid spammers using it against the system. The owners of the forum change limits as situations dictate, and the forum has some self-filtering aspects. But needless to say, if you hang around, are nice about introducing yourself, and keep coming back, it's not long before you get enough credibility to move out of the "possibly not good" list.
If you need something specifically done, report the post to an admin and ask them to maintain it on your behalf

Hi Poundy,
Ok. That's fair enough. Devious but fair. ;-) No one likes spammers. Thanks for the answer.

Hello Bem
Think you'll find if you try now that you have the permissions needed for most stuff.
More posts etc will get you more permissions down the track you need to work for the rewards. It's only the long term participating, stayers who get the rewards down the track.
Cheers - Neil
PS Permissions are "Devious" yes..... Successful at keeping spammers and other ne'er-do-wells at bay? somewhat. Successful at catching and tracking them? Too right! Those who don't get caught and banned before signing up are caught in quick time with the permissions and banned for life from here and many thousands of forums and blogs around the world.

Hi Neil, my apologies for the nuisance, but I've just realised I've completely stuffed up the links to some youtube vids in a post ( https://www.woodworkforums.com/f171/...95#post2199138) but don't seem to be able to edit it anymore, and get the same permissions error as up above when trying to access the articles editor. Is it possible to get access to update the links, as I was hoping to avoid adding it as a reply right at the very bottom of the thread?
cheers, Ian

You only have 24 hrs to be able to edit posts, threads, etc
After that you should report the post and along what needs to be changed and a mod or Admin will do it for you.KEEP A LID ON THE GARBAGE... Report spam, scams, and inappropriate posts, PMs and Blogs.
