Thinking of building an exposed truss outdoor entertaining area. A few truss questions.
Would like to know if you can re-use old trusses for a new development. Is there some sort of conflict with old and new building codes? I sometimes see old hardwood trusses for sale that would fit the bill.

Or Can I construct my own using reclaimed hardwood and fabricate joints with steel flat bar and bolt it together? For that old look. Would this be then have to be designed by an engineer?
