G'day from Melbourne
G'day,
I've just started a carpentry pre-apprenticeship, and our first couple of weeks have involved doing various bits of joinery to learn our way around hand tools - I've loved every minute of it! I'm old for an apprentice or pre-app (32), but the work I've done until now has been pretty unrelated.
Anyway, thanks to everyone for all the great information in these forums - I hope I can contribute at some point.

We all wind up contributing at some point, if not to woodworking then usually we have some knowledge or skill from our past that helps others. You'd be amazed at some of the questions people can ask at times.
Welcome to the forums

I agree with Groggy - the varied questions on this board is amazing. I'm sure you will find the desire to contribute sooner rather than later. BTW, welcome.

Welcome BenW!
.
I know you believe you understand what you think I wrote, but I'm not sure you realize that what you just read is not what I meant.
Regards, Woodwould.

Thanks chaps (& chapettes?). By the way, I can't work out where in the control panel I can choose not to have notifications of thread replys NOT emailed to me. Could someone point me in the right direction please?

It's in the Edit Options via the Settings & Options section. Scroll down to Default Thread Subscription Mode and change it to Do Not Subscribe.
Mind you this will only turn it off for future replies, to stop current subscriptions, you'll need to do it via either the Thread Tools drop-down box located at the top of this thread or via List Subscriptions under your User CPCheers

Hey Ben, welcome aboard. I've been playing round with wood for the last 30+ years and computers for at least 20 but I didn't know this website existed till a few months back. Like most discussion boards there is a lot of great stuff here, but also a load of stuff you can easily get sidetracked by. Hope it all works for you.
