Bulk removal of finishes
Hi All
I have a pile of picture frameish like objects that have all been finished either in shellac/french polish or varnish and have various defects in them that will require stripping back and refinishing. I have checked and both finishes used say to clean up with metho. I attacked the first of many last night and while the bulk of the shellac came of nicely, getting the edges and corners done to satisfaction took entirely too long. I also have a supply of metho freely available, so I was wondering, could I just soak the frames for a period of time in metho and come back later to just easily wipe off the remains of the finish? Would that damage the jarrah or titebond 3 used?
