Cracking,cracking and more cracking!!!
Hi All,
Found this forum when searching for information on back blocking.
We had a water damaged section of ceiling replaced by a plasterer about five years ago and it has not only cracked right around the joins but the single sheet he installed had cracked right across the middle! He put timber in the roof to attach it to,and I'm thinking this has moved.I have had three guys out to look at it(cos we just wanted it fixed)two said they would just repair the joins and the third said he would replace that whole section of ceiling, quoting us approx $2800.The section in question is approx 2x1.2 metres. Can anyone advise us what to do cos this seems excessive?(the other two didn't even give us a ball park figure)Oh and none of them went into the roof.
I've been reading about black blocking(the strips of plaster you stick over the cracked bits?) and was wondering is this even possible with the added timber?
