Hi all,

Few quick (and hopefully straightforward!) bathroom reno questions - have been searching the forums, but not finding quite the answers I need...though lots of other good tips.

Floor: ensuite is on 2nd story, particle board over timber beams. The particle board is actually in a couple of separate piece as our plumber had to remove some sections to make plumbing changes in the subfloor (can post photo if needed). Think it would be best to put a uniform layer of something down over the whole floor - would compressed fibre cement sheeting be the way to go? If I do put this down, do I then also need tile underlay or is one the same as the other? Don't want too many layers as our floor tiles are fairly thick and don't want complications with door height etc. Assuming order is new sheeting, waterproofing, tiling?

Cornice: will be replacing all cornice as will have to resheet all walls following replacement of windows. Three out of four walls will have tiles (or mirror) going to ceiling height, with the 4th wall being half tiles, half painted (hence the need to retain cornice). My question is: do you think a better look is achieved by first installing new cornince on all 4 walls then tiling up to it, or tiling first with cornice of the top? If I do the latter, am a bit unsure how I would deal with the level changes in corners where the tiled walls meet the painted wall (ie. if corncie is over the top will be sitting further out from wall on tiled walls - think it would look a bit strange)?

Shower: in the corner where the shower was and will be, the external metal angle that runs the length of the joists (floor to ceiling) is somewhat rusted at the base, obviously due to previous leaks from the old shower (it was a disaster area) - should we replace this strip before resheeting the walls?

Think those are the burning questions keeping me up at the moment - until the next lot...
