1917 Ford Truck

I liked the look of this model in the Toys & Joys catalogue so I purchased it along with a couple of other plans. It is a very basic pattern & I wasn't going to do a WIP, but I thought if I am going to build it I may as well show it. First two photo's are the chassis with front & rear axle's just sitting in place, the fender support cross member & the four support's for the rear tray. Next is what will be the fender's ready to be cut out & shaped.Cheer's Jim.

We had some time in the shed today, cut out the windscreen panel, the engine block & the radiator. Semi finished the fender's & the fender support's. Last is it's starting to look like a truck. In the background is what it should look like when it's completed. Cheer's Jim.

A couple of hour's in the shed today & we have the seat, with purple heart padding & the pedal box with ebony pedal pad's. The tray is cut to size but still a lot to do there. Regard's Jim.

John & Keith, I appreciate your comment's, thank you both. The lawn needed mowing today so not much time was spent in the shed. I shaped the "canvas" roof & cut out the tray base for the stake's that hold the side's & the end's of the tray. No photo's but hopefully some time will be spent in the shed tomorrow. Regard's Jim.

The shed is close to the house and the garden so close to your darling.....heaps better than the golf course, club or pub......

Pete, I must say I agree with you 100% on that one. After Keith identified this truck as a model T I had a look on the internet for any variations & found out the rear suspension was a transverse spring. This is my attempt at that suspension. The original plan had a 3/4 " square axle, this is not perfect but I think it look's a bit better. Next pic is the "canvas" hood or roof & the last is the tray with stay's, it still need's some shaping & a gullet fitted all around the lower section to be finished.Regard's Jim.

We are now at the assembly stage, two view's of the fender's attached to the chassis & the grill mated to the engine housing. Next I will spray the underside's & the hard to get to place's with estapol polyurethane satin before any more assembly. This hopefully will give a proper cover all round.Regard's Jim.

Your Ford T takes me back a few years (2010) when I made a 2 seater T Model.

Going a great job and thanks for posting your progress. I like your "spring" mode. Much better than what the plan called for.
