Late summer saftey tip
Just want to pass along a little advice as it relates to late summer safety. Even though it has cooled off some and the itch to get outside and work in the yard becomes worse, please remember that the humidity remains high and it can certainly have adverse effects. The worst of which is that strong heart-beating-in-your-ears condition that tells you it’s time to take a break.
Listen to your body and take that break. Sit down and catch your breath. Anywhere will do …..stump, overturned bucket, small hill in the yard, anywhere really. But the most important thing is to remain in the seated position and never, never, EVER lay down completely in the yard, no matter HOW good it feels. It is quite possible that you might fall asleep and take a little nap. Now the safety concern here is for your wife and the damage they can do to themselves after freaking out and thinking that you’ve had a heart attack or sumpin’. See the wife will desperately try to reach you when you don’t respond to their repeated shouts of your name.
This danger is increased if you have a deck off the kitchen and the danger is further multiplied by the number of steps you have leading off of that deck into the yard. The danger is actually decreased if you have a dog who will take advantage of your position to run and lick your face before the wife gets all the way off of the deck. It's then you'll have enough time to wake up, run and hide from the wife, before she beats the life out of you. Man's best friend - I love my dog
