Guys I need help (yeh I know Al) Ihave been asked to make a heap of keyrings for Ian007's cause and as the fittings are being donated to me by a forum member I couldnt say no. The thing is that as the wood needed is usually 20-25mm thick by 50mm long it needs to be resonably figured to look good and that I dont have much of. If someone would like to donate some PM me and I will give you my postal details.

    G'day Peter,
I'll see what I can scrounge up for you this evening. I do have some Black Bean & some salvaged Blackwood + a bit of Malaysian Curly Maple. I'll cut some figured pieces out of it for you. Curly maple can be a bit of a pain to turn though - tear out being a problem with the twisted grain. The #80 grit detailing tool helps a lot though. PM your address to me if you are interested & I'll post the timber to you.
I can cut the timber to your desired length / thickness if you like.
    Regards,
    Barry.

    Hi Pete,

I have some pieces of Emboyna that might make some very nice keyrings. It's a bit of a bugga to plane, so I imagine that turning it would be all kinds of tricky, but if you're game, send me a PM.

    Cheers!

    Pete,
I have been tied up with our Tasmanian Scout & Guide Regatta over the last weekend and could not help previously but if you still require more timber for keyring blanks let me know.

Checked out for figured bits this morning see photo for details, (left to right) fiddle back king billy pine, burled myrtle, black heart sassy and figured huon pine.

I can add various Tasmanian timber pen blanks to the package too if needed.

I have loads that I can send your way, right here in Adelaide. Actually all the bits I have been saving for well saving because I hate throwing wood that might be good for something.
