Insulation and waterproofing
Hello,
My builder is currently enclosing an existing external verandah and he needs some advice on making sure that the new ceiling remains waterproof given that he is not able to remove the existing battens. He will fit sizalation (membrane) before the insulation goes in however he is concerned that he will have to cut the sizalation around the existing battens. The area is very prone to condensation and we do not know how to ensure that it remains fully waterproof if the cutting creates some space for the condensation to leak through onto the insulation. Obviously the creation of these new rooms with some heating will reduce the condensation but to what extent is the question?
Any advice appreciated. Gail
