Default Help - cap on spraygun stuck

Hi. I went to disassemble a spray gun this morning - but the cap was stuck firm. I've applied as much pressure as I dare - but dont want to damage something. Presumably I didnt clean it up very well and its stuck with lacquer.

Any advice on how to loosen it?
Any reason why I shouldnt soak it in lacquer thinners ?

The gun is a Star EVO-T, if that makes any difference.

    cheers

Do you mean the screw cap or the inner fan cap.

Thinners soak thats the best way just enough to loosen it.

If Lacquer is leaking between surfaces thats not good. As you should be able during spraying to undo the front lock cap and rotate the fan cap.

    Screw cap.
I dont think theres leakage while spraying - i think i did a lousy job of disassemble/clean when last using it before christmas and probably the surfaces had a film of lacquer.

    Thanks

It's fine to soak it up to the end of the air cap - just not as far as the trigger or material glands as the solvent can play merry hell with the seals.

Arron thats possible always leave everything apart to dry.

For now just soak the tip area of the gun for a short period thinners will gravity feed a bit wipe clean after a good clean let air dry and then put it back together.
