    Default Gimp help with transparencies

    ...and yet another question...

i think there are a couple of regular Gimp users here, otherwise software would probabl;y have similar process to help with my question...

    ...so

when i'm doing a transparent gif image, lets say for example some text, like a logo, (it's on a transparent background so the webpage will show through later) and i want to add a blur affect of something to soften it, or maybe a gradient, this is all easy and not a problem, but when i go and save it as i gif i need to convert to indexed or it won't save, whent i do that, any filters or whater that i have applied get removed ???

    any suggestions...
    Hurry, slowly

    Default Gimp Layers

It may be that your effects were applied to the background layer.

When the image is indexed it probably deals with the background in a special way.

Try using your layers and make sure you apply your effects to layers other than the background layer.

    Maybe this is the answer.

Can't say I have ever had this particular problem.
